Exciting Entertainment and Retail developments in the Paphos Area

Date: 21/02/11

Amongst the road works improving the drainage system in Paphos area lie some exciting new retail developments. There are several new developments currently on the go in the Paphos. Let’s take a little time to go over the main 3 and highlight what they will bring to the local area.

Kings Avenue Mall, Tomb Of The Kings Road

Situated in the busy tourist area and with good road links the Kings Avenue Mall is sure to give Paphos a badly needed retail center.  A joint venture between Athienitis and Aristo the building will at last fill this large plot that was vacated by KEO brewery many years ago.  At 48,000m2 of retail spaces and 1100 underground parking spaces the artist impression indicates a very exciting modern design.
Although, like all retail space much will depend on the quality of the tenants and in particular the anchor stores, we are promised a wide range of retailer and entertainment, including a cinema.
This project is due to start soon in 2011, with a completion date in 2013.

Multi Screen Cinema and Leisure Facility

No one could help but noticed the two development projects on the entrance to Paphos via the highway. The one on the right is the new electricity (EAC) Paphos head office, and although we all welcome paying our electricity bills in better surroundings than we do now, it is the  project to the left that is of real interest.
For most of the residents of Paphos, going to the cinema has been a painful experience. Old worn out facilities showing  new movies some months after official UK release . Although the customary interlude (yes, they have interludes ) is initially charming reminding you of a bygone era,  but you quickly tire of the experience and either skip cinema all together or go to Limassol.
Well, those days are about to end with the arrival of this multi screen. Due to finish in September 2011, this exciting project promises 10pin bowling, snooker hall, children’s play area and a sports bar.
As a facility this one is desperately needed and it’s hard to believe, but we will soon have the best cinema in Cyprus. See you there!

Lidl Supermarket , Tomb Of The Kings Road

After a difficult start to its life the Lidl store in Paphos is now going up at break neck speed.  With a presence in every other major town in Cyprus since the end of 2010 the Paphos Lidl store is due to open later this year. The arrival of a major European grocer like Lidl is sure to give shoppers in Paphos some much needed variety on product and price.
In summer Paphos has always been a great place to live. These three exciting projects will enhance the all important shopping and entertainment aspects of the town, making the purchase of property in Cyprus and in particular Paphos an even more attractive prospect.
