Redevelopment of Tombs of the Kings Avenue to be completed by April 2016.

Date: 30/01/16

Anyone travelling along the busy Tombs of the Kings road from Paphos to Coral Bay over the last 24 month cannot help, but notice the major redevelopment of this important section of road.

The stretch from the King’s Avenue Mall (next to our Office) to the “Aspire” private British school is the section undergoing a 14 million euro revamp. Many of the businesses, including cafes and restaurants, that have “borrowed” additional area adjacent to the road will have such terraces repatriated to create actual pavements for public use. Add to that new cycle lanes and well illuminated dual carriageway with lush Mediterranean hedges and one can see how coastal Paphos is being transformed not only in the eyes of the tourists, but also for the benefit of its residents.

However, at one point it seemed like this badly needed project may never finish. Luckily the new Paphos mayor, Phedonas Phedonos, has been bashing heads together and has promised completion before the start of the busy tourist season. His enthusiasm and watchful eye may secure timely delivery of modern infrastructure to ancient Paphos.

Once completed this project will define the new tourist hub of our town. With the new King’s Avenue Mall at its centre this busy tourist area is already laying claim to be the new heart of Kato (lower) Paphos.
