The European City of Culture is over, but regeneration of Paphos continues.

Date: 13/06/18

In 2017 Paphos enjoyed its status as European City of Culture and paid host to many guests from all over the world as the historic town put on a show.

Anybody who has not visited Paphos for a few years couldn’t help but notice the dynamic change in the town's fortunes over the last 5 years or so. Central government provided serious investment in new and improved infrastructure. This has been more than matched by private sector projects with the Kings Avenue Mall being the most visible of these. The Tombs of the Kings Avenue has been transformed into a modern double carriageway, stretching from the Kings Avenue Mall to Aspire Private British School.

Uptown the neighborhood around what was known as Kennedy Square and Paphos town hall has been transformed into a beautifully paved area with colorful flowerbeds and elegant water features. Swish international cafes taking up residence here represent the sophisticated coffee culture of Mediterranean city.
As numbers show, 2017 set tourist arrival records throughout Cyprus. The private sector was prompt to react with confidence and many retail units swiftly This year we continue to observe inflow of private business investment, improving the look of the area – one shop at a time.

Paphos still has a long way to go, but improved political leadership is starting to bear fruits with business in Paphos looking to a bright future, full of promise.
